Closure of the Clos-Saint-Martin nursing home based on “serious and dangerous failings”

The PACA Regional Health Agency (ARS) and the Bouches-du-Rhône department announced on Friday, September 12, the closure of a nursing home near Salon-de-Provence. This withdrawal of authorization, issued Thursday for the Clos-Saint-Martin nursing home in Pélissanne, is based on "serious and dangerous failings" highlighted during several inspections, including a final unannounced one on August 27.
This recent visit revealed "serious failings within the nursing home: premises that are unfit and dangerous for residents, unsatisfactory management of human resources, institutional mistreatment," lists the press release from the two institutions.
They specifically point to "care that was not provided or was poorly provided" , "the abandonment of residents with risks of them running away or dying" . These conditions directly compromised "the health, safety and physical and moral well-being of residents" .
Transfer of 73 residentsFollowing this closure, a "provisional administrator" was appointed to "organize the transfer of the 73 residents to other suitable establishments, in consultation with their families or guardians" , and to "facilitate the reclassification of employees" . "Particular attention" is paid to the reorientation of residents "towards local establishments, charging similar rates" .
The government launched a major plan to monitor nursing homes after the Orpea scandal in 2022, which led to several similar decisions, such as in February when an establishment in the Alpes-Maritimes was urgently closed by the ARS Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur.
